Introduction
Since its establishment in 1998, Handong Global University has been training Christian lawyers with the vision of "lawyers without borders" through its undergraduate programs (Bachelor of Law in Korean and U.S. law) and its professional law degree programs (U.S. law, J.D. equivalent, and Master of Law) at the Handong International Law School (HILS), which began in 2002.

Handong Global University's unique legal education program, composed of Christianity, academic excellence, and servant leadership as its core values, is unparalleled in Korea and the world.

As an extension of this innovation in legal education, Handong Global University opened the Department of Law in General Graduate School in 2015 and has been offering an academic J.D. degree program, an academic Ph.D. degree program, and an academic J.D.-Ph.D. integrated degree program.

The Department of Law at Handong General Graduate School will continue its 20-year tradition of innovation in legal education and foster outstanding researchers who will lead the next generation of legal scholars, especially in the fields of Christian legal theory, comparative law, policy law, and law and development.

- Cultivate legal researchers who propose excellent legal policies in various fields based on a broad perspective on legal theory and comparative law.
Career Objectives
- Legal researchers who deeply understand the spirit of Christianity, especially Protestantism, and connect it to legal research.
- Legal researchers who can utilize appropriate research methods that cross multiple dimensions of factual jurisprudence, legal philosophy, and legal sociology, as well as multiple legal traditions, including Korean and American law, to solve social problems.
- Legal researchers who provide the best legal policies for people in need, while maintaining integrity and modesty.
