The Graduate School of Education at Handong Global University offers a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction for educators who wish to grow professionally with a Christian perspective. All courses are taught 100% in English.

• This graduate school does not issue a Korean teaching license. Graduates receive the M.Ed. degree. The ACSI Christian Teacher Certificate and the IB Educator Certificate are available only to students enrolled in the relevant track.

A bachelor's degree (or expected graduation by February 2027) from a four-year program in Korea or abroad, or an equivalent qualification recognized by law. Associate degrees are not accepted. |

A bachelor's degree, a teaching certificate issued by a national or accredited authority, and at least 3 years of teaching experience. Alternative school experience is accepted. However, private academy (hagwon) teaching experience is not accepted.

(2) A Korean national residing abroad or a foreign national who has completed the entire equivalent of Korean elementary, secondary, and university education (16 years) in a foreign country |
• Applicants holding Korean nationality, including dual nationals, are not eligible under category (1).
• International applicants must also meet the eligibility requirements of their chosen track above.
English Proficiency Requirement (scores issued within 2 years of the application deadline)
• TOEFL iBT 72 or higher
• IELTS 5.5 or higher
• OPIc IM2 or higher
• TOEIC Speaking 130 (IM3) or higher
Applicants who completed their university studies at an institution where English is the primary language of instruction are exempt from submitting an English test score.

• Interview: Conducted 100% online via Zoom, in English. Applicants are evaluated on academic ability, teaching perspective, character, and worldview.
• Interview times and Zoom access information will be sent individually to each applicant by email. All times are in Korea Standard Time (KST, UTC+9).
• Waitlisted candidates may be admitted if openings arise.

• If your transcript does not show a percentile score, please upload an official document explaining your university's grading scale. Your grades will be converted to a 100-point scale.
• Transfer students must submit transcripts from both institutions.
For applicants with degrees from universities outside Korea: Please upload apostilled (or Korean consulate-authenticated) copies of your diploma and transcript. Documents not in English or Korean must be accompanied by a notarized translation.

Tuition and Scholarships

Program Length and Class Format
• Program length: 4 semesters (28 credits)
• Online classes during the semester: Tuesdays, 7:00–9:00 PM Korea Standard Time (KST, UTC+9), in the 3rd to 5th weeks of each month
• Face-to-face intensive classes during vacation periods: 3 days per course (approximately 10 days per vacation), held at Handong Global University in Pohang, Korea
• Teaching practicum: Students completing the practicum must complete 200 hours. A practicum supervision fee of KRW 100,000 applies to students taking the practicum.
• The curriculum is subject to change. Updates will be posted on the Graduate School of Education website.
Accommodation During Face-to-Face Sessions
• Students may stay in the Handong Global University dormitory during face-to-face intensive class periods.
• Dormitory fees are charged for the length of stay and vary by room type (single, double, or quadruple room). Fee details will be announced to students in advance.
• Dormitory fees must be paid in advance by bank transfer to the same account used for the application fee (see Application Fee above), with the depositor name entered as the student's name followed by "Edu".
• Bank transfer fees are the student's responsibility.
Visa Information
The Graduate School of Education does not issue student visas. Because face-to-face sessions last approximately 10 days per vacation period, international students are responsible for arranging appropriate entry to Korea according to their nationality (e.g., visa-free entry, K-ETA, or a short-term visit visa).
Important Notes
• Admission may be canceled if any submitted information is found to be false, or if the original documents are not submitted or do not match the uploaded copies.
• Submitted documents will not be returned.
• Admitted students must complete registration within the designated period; otherwise, admission will be canceled.
• Leave of absence is not permitted in the first semester, except for military service, pregnancy, childbirth, or childcare.
• Once the online application has been submitted, it cannot be modified or canceled.
• All admissions notices, including interview schedules and Zoom access information, will be sent to the email address entered in the application form. Applicants should check their email regularly. The Graduate School is not responsible for any disadvantage caused by incorrect contact information or failure to check emails.
• These admissions guidelines were originally written in Korean and translated into English. In case of any discrepancy, the Korean version prevails.
