Handong Cornerstone Scholarship
 

Eligibility
• Both the applicant and his/her parent(s) must be foreigners (non-Korean citizens).
• He/she must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and must match the characteristics sought by HGU.
• Limited to 15 recipients including freshmen and transferring students.

Coverage

Type A (Tuition 100%) Type B (Tuition 50%)
During semesters:
• Admission Fee
• Tuition Fee
• Dormitory Fee
• Meals
• Daily Expenses (about 200,000 KRW per month)

During vacations:
• Dormitory Fee
• Meals (Two meals a day)
* Seasonal Semester's tuition fee is NOT included.

Remarks

• Recipients must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 each semester to retain eligibility for the scholarship
• If the recipient's GPA from the previous semester is lower than 3.0, or receives penalty from the Penalty Committee he/she will be disqualified from the scholarship.
• If a Cornerstone student does not move back to the dormitory after living off campus for one semester, or is evicted again a second time, he/she will be disqualified from the scholarship.
• Cornerstone Scholarship covers maximum 8 semesters for freshman, 6 semesters for sophomore, 4 semesters for junior students.
• Only Students who obtains TOPIK level 2 will continue to receive the Cornerstone Scholarship from the 5th semester.
• After 5th semester, whenever students obtain TOPIK level 2, the students will regain the Cornerstone Scholarship from following semester.
• For vacation times, Dormitory and meals are only provided for the first two vacations during 1st year. (effective 2024 Fall)

Information of the changes in the Cornerstone Scholarship (made by the Scholarship Committee on August, 21, 2023)
1. All Int'l students who enter after 2020 Fall are obliged to have the Korean National Insurance & a Private insurance. And the Students are responsible for paying both insurance fees.
2. All Cornerstone scholarship applicants MUST submit a language test result. e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, IB, TEPS, TOPIK
3. Asia Christian Leaders Scholarship is open to students from all Asian countries except Republic of Korea. (Applied from 2024 admissions)

Presidential Scholarship
 

Eligibility
• Top student from countries that are not eligible for the Cornerstone Scholarship
• Both the applicant and his/her parent(s) must be foreigners (non-Korean citizens).
• Recipients including freshmen and transferring students.

Coverage
• 100% of Tuition Fee, Dormitory Fee for 4 years
* Seasonal Semester's tuition fee and dormitory fee are NOT included.

Remarks
• Recipients must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 each semester to retain eligibility for the scholarship
• If the recipient's GPA from the previous semester is lower than 3.0, or receives a penalty from the Penalty Committee he/she will be disqualified from the scholarship.

Outstanding International Students
 

Eligibility
• Select international students from both developing and non-developing countries who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and have characteristics sought by the university.
• The percentage will be according to the total score of Step 1 (document screening) & Step 2 (interview) combined.

Coverage

Top 10% Students Top 30% Students
• Admission Fee Exemption
• 50% Deduction on Tuition Fee
• Admission Fee Exemption
• 30% Deduction on Tuition Fee

Remarks
• Recipients must maintain the GPA of at least 3.0 each semester to retain eligibility for the scholarship
• If the recipient's GPA from the previous semester is lower than 3.0, or receives penalty from the Penalty Committee he/she will be disqualified from the scholarship.
• If a Cornerstone student does not move back to the dormitory after living off campus for one semester, or is evicted again a second time, he/she will be disqualified from the scholarship.
• If the recipient attends more than the designated semesters, he/she has the responsibility to pay for the extra semesters.
• The scholarship covers maximum 8 semesters for freshman, 6 semesters for sophomore, 4 semesters for junior students.

Entrance Scholarship for International Students (With Official Language Test Scores) - Korean Proficiency
 

Eligibility
• Students with a valid Korean Language Proficiency (TOPIK) Score (at the time of Application Deadline)​

Remarks
• Only given during the first semester at Handong ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
• Score must be valid at the deadline date of the Admission Application Period
• Excludes F4 VISA holders​

Entrance Scholarship for International Students (With Official Language Test Scores) - English Proficiency
 

Eligibility
• Students with a valid English Language Score (at the time of Application Deadline)​

Coverage

TOEFL iBT 85 and above IELTS Level 6.0 and above TEPS 600 and above (equivalent to New TEPS 327 and above)
50% of Tuition as Scholarship is Given to those that Possess an English Proficiency Score as above

Remarks
• Only given during the first semester at Handong
• Score must be valid at the deadline date of the Admission Application Period
• Excludes students from countries with English as the first language, categorized by Ministry of Justice, Korea (USA, Canada, S.Africa, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand)

Christian Leaders Scholarship
 

Eligibility
• Scholarship to train international Christian Leaders
• Students that hold nationalities and graduate from High schools in all countries (except Republic of Korea) can apply

Coverage

6 Students per Year
• 50% of Tuition as Scholarship
• Covers (max) : Freshman: 8 semesters / Sophomore: 6 semesters / Junior: 4 semesters

• Recipients must maintain the GPA of at least a 3.0 each semester to retain eligibility for the scholarship

International Missionary Kids Scholarship
 

Eligibility
• Both the applicant and his/her parent(s) must be non-Korean citizens
• Must be a missionary kid who is nominated by the Office of Admissions of HGU

Coverage
• Coverage depends on the financial support/aid that the student receives from the church/denomination or mission-related organization.
• Up to 100% of tuition exemption for 8 regular semesters (except summer/winter semester)

No Financial Support Receives Financial Support from 1 ~ 1,500 USD Receives Financial Support from 1,501 ~ 2,000 USD

Remarks
• Must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 each semester to retain the scholarship
• Must participate spiritual training program by Handong Global University (including Global Mission Institute, the Chaplain’s Office, the Office of International Affairs, etc.)
• Will be disqualified from the scholarship if the recipient receives a penalty from the Penalty Committee
