Professor Wonsup Lee, who currently serves as the head of the School of Global Entrepreneurship and ICT at Handong Global University, received the 'New Ergonomics Engineer Award' at the 2023 Annual Conference of the Ergonomics Society of Korea, held on the 16th and 17th at the Jeju International Convention Center.
Professor Wonsup Lee Awarded the New Human Factors Engineering Award
The 'New Ergonomics Engineer Award' is presented annually to an individual under the age of 40 actively engaged in ergonomics in various sectors such as industry, academia, and research institutes, based on their academic contributions, research achievements, education outcomes related to ergonomics, society activities, and social contributions, both domestically and internationally.
Professor Wonsup Lee has been actively involved in anthropometry and human-centric product design for the past 15 years, aiming to contribute to the improvement of human health and safety. Particularly noteworthy is his leadership in the development and dissemination of technology that effectively utilizes extensive 3D body scan data of over 30,000 individuals to design ergonomically friendly and comfortable human-centric products. Over the last five years (2019-2023), his research achievements include 19 SCI papers, 4 KCI papers, 9 presentations at international conferences, 4 domestic patent registrations, 2 research foundation projects, and 10 industry projects. The technologies addressed in his research have been applied in the design and commercialization of various products such as oxygen masks for Air Force pilots, dust masks, hip joint protectors for the elderly, chairs, glasses, VR devices, earbuds, helmet-type medical devices, and facial beauty care products.
Currently, Professor Lee teaches courses on human-centric product/service planning and development in the School of Global Entrepreneurship and ICT at Handong Global University. He has also received acclaim for his contribution to the development of the Ergonomics Society through his YouTube channel, 'Professor Wonsup Lee's Insight Development Station,' which he has been operating since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Professor Lee expressed his gratitude upon receiving the award, stating, "I am dedicated to advancing the development of design technology that fits the human body until everyone can live comfortably, healthily, and safely. I hope to actively realize this through entrepreneurship in the near future."
