December 20, 2016, Jaehyung Kim received the prize from the President of the Regional SW Industrial Development Association at the Innovation Fellowship Program in the course of global innovative leader nurturing that was held at AppHaus Korea.
The program was co-hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, SAP DCC (Design & Co-Innovation Center) and the Regional SW Industrial Development Association organized the event.
The program, which was held for the first time in last year, aimed to nurture global innovative leaders focused on using Design Thinking for growing creative global talents and creative cultural dissemination. Five teams participated in the Innovation Fellowship Course. They implemented practical projects through the support of innovative experts by visiting the U.S., Germany SAP, Facebook, and Stanford University for nine weeks.
The DogeeksTeam consisted of Jaehyung Kim, Yeosel Choi, and Hyunil Choi. The team presented the ‘O2O Platform to distribute companion animals’.
For the prize winners, one million won of prize money and start-up support will be given by connecting with R&D projects through constant follow-up measures. The host organizations are expected to support innovative culture dissemination activities with the program prize recipients.
The Dogeeks Team had a chance to visit an innovative enterprise in Germany thanks to the highest scores in their mid-term evaluation. After the program ended, the team planned to create a start-up business to resolve the issue of the dog-making factory and abandoned dogs.
Jaehyung Kim said, “With this start-up, I could practice the slogan of Handong; Why not change the world? That made me glad. I hope to make a better world with genuine breeders and responsible companion animal growers by establishing a healthy companion animal distribution culture and by using design thinking.”
According to the Software Policy Director of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Sanghak Lee, “Thoughts centered on human and creative innovation mindset are a core competency in the era of the 4th industrialization innovation. I hope that excellent talents will be nurtured through global entrepreneurship strengthening projects and design thinking methods will spread.”
In the Innovation Fellowship Program, 110 total people participated. These included graduates, pre-start-ups, CEOs, and cooks. The 20 final participants were selected through in-depth interviews and document screenings. The participants implemented various projects such as personnel solutions for businesses and an AR based Sugar Diet Application. During the presentations, start-up related people both from Korea and abroad participated. Manju Bansal, the Global Head of the SAP start-up focus program shared examples of big data based start-ups. CEO Bumseop Kim, the developer of the Remember Application, shared his start-up and innovative experience.
