Supporting study skills and reading for elementary school students in Chugok
Students, who participated in these activities, initially had a difficult time reaching the people. However, soon they understood each other and became very close. This positive energy brings good impact on their studies. Haeji Hand said, “Not only did we study together but also participants seemed to become more positive. We had a great time serving. I had a chance to know the thoughts of the children so it was very meaningful.”
In addition, local residents and church members who received support expressed gratitude to the students for their efforts. They provided snacks and a place to sleep. Both local people and the HGU students had a great time to talk for many days.
Students returned to their homes with greater love and a broader servant attitude. They shared their experiences with others to prepare the next group of volunteers for next summer.
