January 25, 2017, President Soon-Heung Chang of HGU participated in the 2017 Presidents Conference of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, held in Washington D.C., the U.S., for three days.
The practical approaches and countermeasures to address the current challenges that Christian universities and colleges are faced were discussed with about 100 Presidents from the U.S, Canada and Korea. In particular, the role of Christian Colleges and Universities in this era of new political and social phenomenon since the US election and globalization were discussed.
The host of the conference prepared discussions, special lectures, services and various programs. President Chang was the main speaker on behalf of the Asian region during the comprehensive discussion and gained agreement by saying, “The U.S. Christian Universities need to work more actively to change and develop community, their country, to resolve and to provide support to overcome the U.S.’s problems.”
The Conference of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities is headquartered in Washington D.C. 178 Christian colleges and universities world-wide are working together. Each year, meetings, gatherings, and educational programs are proceeding. The conference is representing, delivering, and discussing the opinions of Christian colleges and universities to the government of the U.S.
