Handong Global University hosted a Global Entrepreneurship Training or GET at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, NTTU, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam from January 6 to 12, 2017.
Local governmental officials, entrepreneurs, professors, and students all joined together. Included in the group were people preparing start-up ventures. The one week training was hosted with the support from faculty, coordinators, and student research assistants of NTTU.
GET is a program to nurture practical talents in the field of international cooperation development. The countries targeted are the developing countries designated by UNESCO UNITWIN: University Twining and Networking since 2007. As of today, 2,800 graduates were nurtured from nine countries including Korea, Kenya, Ghana, Peru, Laos, and Ethiopia. This program has been held nineteen times to strengthen the sustainable development capacity in the developing countries. The program also nurtures economic development leaders and local international entrepreneurs.
The week consisted of lectures by professors of HGU and local universities and practice in small group gatherings. The starting lecture from Professor Keehong Kim of ICT Start-ups Department was focused on the mindset that was needed. Then, lectures in the field of fiancé, accounts, commercial law, intellectual property rights, and business communication followed.
Participants presented their work plans every afternoon. Evaluators suggested improvements. During the final day, the competition based on the group projects was initiated.
After finishing the GET program, the Junior Entrepreneurship Training program was hosted for high school students in Vietnam. A Senior Entrepreneurship Training course was hosted for government officials, CEOs, and Chief of organizations as well.
It is expected that this GET program will contribute to create synergistic economic cycles in local society by inspiring entrepreneurship.
