- New Handong Signature Courses Developed, Korean-Language Sections Added to Expand Student Participation
Handong Global University (President Dosoung Choi), in collaboration with Minerva Project, an educational innovation organization, successfully held the Fall 2025 semester final showcase for its Minerva 4C curriculum on December 15-16. Approximately 170 faculty and students participated in this event, where students presented the final results of team projects developed through active learning over the semester, covering diverse topics from global education issues to AI-based creative work and community problem-solving.
On December 15, showcases for 'Introduction to Studies in Education' and 'AI, Culture and Art Project' were held. Both courses are Handong signature courses developed in collaboration with Minerva Project in 2025, combining Handong's educational philosophy with Minerva's 4C competency-based teaching methods.
In 'Introduction to Studies in Education', students selected global education issues by team and proposed the causes of these issues, domestic and international solutions, and practical improvement plans. Student Younglim Lee (School of Law, Class of 2023) shared, "It was an opportunity to reflect on what I learned over the semester and to learn about other students' perspectives. Through the Minerva course, I was able to expand my perspective on education.“
In 'AI, Culture and Art Project', students created their own creative works by integrating seven AI-based genres including Google Arts & Culture, story, image, audio, and video. Student Yeseul Seok (Product Design major, Class of 2020) said, "Through this project, I came to view AI not as a simple tool but as a creative partner. Through experimental attempts and diverse feedback, I was able to create high-quality work, and the showcase was a meaningful opportunity to deeply share each other's creative processes.“
On December 16, the 'Creative and Decisive Thinking' showcase was held. Students applied Minerva's 5-step problem-solving framework to identify real problems in the school and local community and propose solutions. The presentations systematically organized the entire process from problem definition to solution development and implementation planning, showcasing students' creative and practical approaches.
Handong Global University is expanding its collaboration with Minerva Project in response to changes in the educational environment in the AI era. Notably, beginning in Fall 2025, Korean-language sections were added to the existing English sections in response to student demand. This measure expanded opportunities for students who had hesitated to take Minerva 4C courses due to language barriers and received enthusiastic response from students. Handong Global University plans to continue developing various signature courses to enhance students' competencies and global competitiveness.
