On September 23, Sungmin Kim, Yoonseo Kim, and Sangdon Park, students of the Handong International Law School (Dean Eric Enlow), secured first place in the 15th International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition held at the School of Law of Korea University in Seoul.

Having clinched consecutive victories since the 11th edition in 2019, Handong International Law School has achieved a five-year winning streak, garnering favorable recognition in the field of international law.

This competition was organized with the aim of promoting the spirit of international humanitarian law, which contemplates how to regulate hostile acts that violate international law and protect civilian populations and private property in virtual armed conflict scenarios. Co-hosted by the Korean Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross, the event received sponsorship from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of National Defense, as well as support from the School of Law at Korea University and the Onyul Foundation.

Sungmin Kim, a member of the winning team and recipient of the Best Oralist Award in this competition, expressed his delight, saying, "I am very pleased to have achieved a meaningful outcome representing the university at this competition. The oral argument training conducted at the school over the summer was a great help in preparing for the competition."

Professor Dong Cheon Shin, who coached the team, remarked, "I believe that the curriculum at the school, which focuses on Anglo-American law and international law and prepares students to solve legal issues from a doctrinal perspective, greatly aided the students." He also expressed gratitude to the faculty members of the Handong International Law School

Having also won the International Maritime Law Moot Court Competition in August, Handong International Law School, leveraging the characteristics of a U.S.-style law school education, continues to achieve outstanding results in various moot court competitions. Additionally, approximately 72% (577 individuals) of graduates have passed the U.S. bar exam, actively engaging in the domestic and international legal markets.
