Handong Global University (President Dosoung Choi) jointly organized the Global Urban Development Camp with global partner universities from July 31st to August 4th.

The camp, themed "Smart Mobility Development for Boosting Tourism in Bangkok, Thailand," was co-hosted by Handong Global University in South Korea, Thammasat University in Thailand, and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam. The event brought together graduate and undergraduate students under the guidance of 6 professors specializing in urban development, architecture, and transportation.

The main programs included on-site surveys, face-to-face interviews, discussions, lectures, and research reviews. Through on-site surveys, participants gained firsthand insights into the serious traffic congestion and environmental pollution issues facing Bangkok. They also conducted face-to-face interviews with residents, tourists, and businesspeople, enhancing their understanding of the local context. Additionally, various activities were organized, such as reviewing international eco-friendly smart mobility cases suitable for Bangkok, engaging in creative and interdisciplinary discussions, and proposing sustainable spatial and urban planning alternatives.

Professor Duck Soo Suh, who led the planning of the camp at Handong Global University, remarked, "It is very meaningful for multinational professors and students to gather in Bangkok to discuss sustainable alternatives for problem-solving. Such active international exchange between universities is a crucial foundation for nurturing students' global citizenship."

Professor Poyini, a transportation expert from Thammasat University, expressed, "This was a great opportunity to view the serious traffic and environmental issues Bangkok faces, as well as their solutions, from an international perspective. I hope for expanded collaboration not only through future international development camps with Handong Global University but also through professor-student exchange programs, joint research, and education initiatives."

Sararad, a graduate student from a Thai university who participated in the camp, shared, "Creativity thrives in diversity. I learned a lot through discussions with various students, staying up late into the night and made many global friends. I am looking forward to next year."
