December 7, the School of Communication Arts of Handong Global University, Junhyung Park and Yoonwoo Park received the Grand Prize and the Excellence award respectively at the ‘2016 TBC University School Students Film Festival’ hosted by TBC Daegu Broadcasting.
The grand prize work, “Mint Castle” describes a disturbance that happened at Mint Castle. The four people had invisible bodies and they become neighbors together.”
The panel evaluating this film said, “This film has experimental and difficult ways of expression. However, it was an interesting film to be absorbed.”
Junhyung Park said, “This award was not expected at all. I really appreciate this award and this chance served as a good opportunity for students who study movie-making in Gyeongbuk. I will do my best to film a good movie to satisfy people with this encouragement.”
Yoonwoo Park, recipient of the Excellence Prize with ‘Today’s Yunna’, said, “This work is a short film that displays the inner growth of Suyoung. She followed her friend, Yunna, a high school student who decided to have plastic surgery after being neglected by the male student who she liked.”
The organizers evaluated this work saying, “This film gave an excellent description of a day in the life of one high school student who tries to find herself among relationships with others during puberty.”
Yoonwoo Park said, “I am glad that our tireless efforts bore fruit. I will do my best to make an even better film in the future.”
The prize winning works will be televised at TBC in mid-January. Students of the School of Communication Arts of Handong Global University have participated in ‘TBC University Student Cinema Competitions’ since 2011. At that time Elishabeth Cho (2011) and Churlkyu Song (2013) received the grand prizes.
