On December 12, Pohang City Children’s Canteen Management Support Center had a granting ceremony for the 2016 Excellence Ideal Kitchen. Thirty participants attended the ceremony.

The Center conferred the certification and plaque to 21 daycare centers located in Bukgu, Pohang. Each center was rated and received a score of90 or more for canteen safety management. The score included improvements in the participation rate for nutrition and sanitary safety management.

According to Hyunnggi Doh, “Five Daycare Centers received IK certification last year. This year sixteen more centers received the certification. The safety of children’s canteen is improving. I will do my best to support making Pohang the food safe city of Gyoungsangbukdo.”

The Center is operating various programs such as: sanitary and nutrition check-ups, specified micro-organism consulting, IK certification programs, dietary life education for children, and cooking play. The target is 223 daycare centers and small scale kindergarten canteen centers located in Bukgu, Pohang. This program has been improving the quality of canteens for daycare centers since 2013.
