Churlwon Lee, Gyeongbae Song, Zion Jung, and Hyosun Kim, of the School of Computer and Electronical Engineering of Handong Global University received the ‘Grand Prize’ at the ‘2016 World Friends ICT Volunteering Corps Homecoming Brief Competition’ hosted by the National Information Society Agency.
World Friends ICT Volunteering Corps implemented a mission to share ICT technology and knowledge of Korea as well as Korean culture by dispatching volunteer workers for mid-term and short-term periods to the developing countries.
The Acapella Team of four students, was dispatched to Moldova, located in Eastern Europe for about one month. They taught professional knowledge of C-Programming, App-Programming, and Photoshop to local students, housewives, and IT experts. In addition, the Corps led activities introducing the history and culture of Korea celebrating the East Sea Day and Independence Day.
Churlwon Lee said, “I’ve always wondered how I could share what I have learned of my professional academics at school. World Friends ICT Volunteering Corps was the opportunity to make this value a reality. Whatever I do, I want to do my best to change the world and share with others.”
The competition was held in Seoul at the office of the National Information Society Agency in order to nurture global competency and share experiences to reach goal 3.0 of the Korean government. The National Information Society Agency granted the grand prize to fifteen excellent teams by evaluating ICT education and project completion.
