On November 7, Professor Sungsu Hwang, of the School of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering of Handong Global University received the ‘Young Engineering Educator Prize’ from the Korean Society for Engineering Education. This prize is given to young engineering educators who contribute to the innovation of engineering education by working in the engineering field, including domestic engineering schools.
According to Professor Hwang, “I still have a long way to go. The achievements that I have made through tutoring students have been recognized. The work of the students has led me to receive this prize.”
Professor Hwang is acting as an advisor of the IT Technology Association for the physically challenged of Handog Global University. Three of the teams he had worked with received prizes at ‘The 8th Creative Design Competition for the 90% of Marginalized’. Professor Hwang is actively writing papers with his students. In addition, he is constantly promoting research on augmented reality, smart drones, and smart cars.
He added, “Through research activities, I am guiding undergraduate school students so that they can receive more effective education.”
Professor Hwang graduated from the School of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering of Handong Global University. He received his master degree and his doctoral degree at KAIST. He has been serving as a professor at Handong since last March.
