From November 2 to 3, at the Incubation Center of Handong Global University, the ‘2016 Energy and Environment Expert Forum’ was held. The focus was the ‘Development of Accident Tolerant Fuel’,
Professor Martine Stein of TU Karlsruhe and leader of the Quench Program of the UN, delivered a presentation.
About 120 people attended. Among them were experts, officials, professors, and students from the Korean Institute of Nuclear Safety, the Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute KAIST, UNIST, and the Korean Nuclear Fuel Corporation. They gave presentations and led discussions for enhancing the safety of nuclear development.
According to Professor Jaeyoung Lee, “Nuclear power technology is our current issue in the Far East and Gyeonbuk Province. At the same time, nuclear energy is a global issue. This forum served as a venue to connect our foundation and research networks to the European Union.”
The Foundation is strengthening research, education, and academic cooperation in many fields. The hope is to stimulate the next-generation of steel processing, renewable energy, smart grids, and energy that will preserve the environment. Industrial innovations of the fourth generation will be sought and new materials will be created for Nano energy.
