-Opened on November 19 and hosted the ‘Youth Culture Festival’ establishing a stepping stone for ‘City Rehabilitation’
On November 19, Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation, Handong Global University opened the Handong HUBUS Center and hosted the ‘Youth Culture Festival’ at Yukgeori, Pohang.
Humanities+in Business, Handong HUBUS Center was established to take the lead in developing a Creative Culture City in Pohang. This would revitalize the city through start-ups based on humanities and society. The content will be centered on topics pertinent to undergraduate students.
In the opening ceremony, three hundred people, including undergraduate school students, youth, and citizens were introduced to the HUBUS Center by the Head, Keeseok Kim of LINC. There were presentations by the youth. CEOs gave remarks. Congratulatory remarks were given by President Soon-Heung Chang of Handong Global University; Mayor Kang-duk Lee of Pohang; Jungjae Kim, a member of National Assembly; and Myeongho Mun, the President of National Assembly of Pohang.
The theme was ‘the Sixth Sense.’ The event was hosted by the student themselves. The Youth Culture Festival followed the opening ceremony. It was designed to create a local culture to gather youth and to celebrate the opening ceremony of the HUBUS Center.
Various displays were provided using light and the internet. Many youth were drawn to these displays.
According to the Head, Kee-seok Kim, “Pohang is an old, sluggish city. In order to make an exemplary urban rehabilitation project of the youth culture, we opened HUBUS. This was an opportunity to stimulate youth start-ups. The active support and interests of local community are required so that the city’s youth can bring creative innovations.”
