Kwon Do-yeop, former Minister of Land, and Lee Chae-phil, former Minister of Employment and Labor Delivered a Lecture at HGU

The special lecture with the former Minister Kwon Do-yeop

 

- As part of ‘2016 Asia Week’, the International Affairs Team of Handong Global University hosted this event

 

As part of ‘2016 Asia Week’, the International Affairs Team of Handong Global University invited Kwon Do-yeop, the former Minister of Land; and Lee Chae-phil, the former Minister of Employment and Labor; for a special lecture. The event aimed to enhance interest in the Asian regions and promoted mutual exchanges.

 

On November 17, Kwon Do-yeop, the former Minister of Land delivered a lecture on the ‘Foreign Construction Story of Korean Businesses.’ On November 18, Lee Chae-phil, former Minister of Employment and Labor delivered a lecture on the ‘International Labor Market and Labor Relations’.

 

According to Kwon Do-yeop, the former Minister of Land, “Our economic development is a miracle. This miracle was possible because we have insightful leaders”. He asked the students to make tireless efforts to be the best leaders with these inherited insights.

Choi Ko-eun, of the School of Spatial Environment System Engineering, one of the participants said, “The dramatic development of Korea was not just made. Thanks to the tireless efforts of many people, creative and surprising choices were possible. We need to focus on our academic work by learning from history so that we can make these good choices.”

 

Professor Jinwon Ahn, Head of the International Affairs Team of Handong Global University said, “Kwon Do-yeop, the former Minister of Land’s lecture provided an opportunity to learn valuable advice from our senior. This will bring economic development and assist us as we further our achievement in every industrial sector.”

 

Lee Chae-phil, the former Minister of Employment and Labor delivered a lecture on labor market and the evaluation of labor relations, as well as policy projects of labor relations. He stressed improvement occur when labor relations are peaceful, economic development and income distribution improves. He shared his experience as a policy maker at the Ministry of Labor for 31 years.

 

Student Hankyul Lim said, “I found the important relationship between peaceful relations and the labor market. I am a senior so the lecture was helpful for the future. I will be able to draw upon this information in the future by considering these experiences.”

 

Professor Yoojin Lee, of the School of Management and Economics, said, “The lecture was very helpful for students. We can learn the core parts of labor relations. The one hour lecture was not enough time to delve deeply into the subject.”

 

The above two lectures were part of ‘2016 Asia Week’, followed by ‘2016 Africa Week’ held in September. The two events will be held every fall after the first event last year.

 

*The ICT based Global Creative & Innovative Human Resource Nurturing Office was designated as the specialization project of the local university hosted by the Ministry of Education in July 2014. The School of Management & Economics, International Studies, Languages & Literature, the School of Spatial Environment System Engineering, and the Graduate School of International Development Cooperation participate and nurture global talents who will lead globalization and creative innovation using ICT. They are implementing various kinds of globalization programs such as operating a practice-centered learning program, visiting global businesses for on-site experiences. ICT also operates research and practice programs for international organizations and regions.
