Handong Global University Finished the 2nd Appropriate Technology-based Entrepreneurship Training

-Handong Global University hosted the Appropriate Technology-based Entrepreneurship Training for four days in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

 

- The first round workshop selected university students through the previous idea completion.

 

- Business items were developed by the participants, training was given and start-up teams formed for practical start-ups

 

From November 14 to 17, 2016, Handong Global University hosted the 2nd Appropriate Technology-based Entrepreneurship Training at UAUT, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

 

This is part of the UNESCO-UNITWIN projects of developing items for start-ups and supporting technology development. This project aims to achieve development of the local society of Tanzania to promote appropriate technology-based start-ups for university students and local people through community business dissemination.

After the November Workshop, the 2nd Appropriate Technology-based Entrepreneurship Training was held. This is the second of the four rounds. The program was organized to develop and improve technology project products through phased long-term workshops to support practical businesses. The first round of the workshop was targeted to make reports from the business ideas. Participants had to find problems to solve for potential customers after analyzing the problem accurately. In the second, third, and fourth workshops, the business ideas will be testified. Then the business solution feasibility will be studied. A draft business model will be created. Then, there will be promotion of the pilot business through the business plan and prototype production. The final business plan will be drawn-up by July 2017 with workshops held on a quarterly basis.

 

The prize winners were: the rechargeable battery controller using solar panels, a mobile transaction system, ticket sales and information applications for soccer games, the establishment and maintenance of pipeline irrigation facilities, a radio broadcasting station to offer agricultural related business information and educational content, and the development of a roof that utilizes rubber to reduce noise. These businesses will conduct a market survey and receive advice for six weeks. In addition, in early January 2017, based on the market survey results, the 2nd round workshop will begin to develop work plans and proposals for prototype development.

In this workshop, thirty-two students of UAUT attended along with three professors of UAUT, one professor of Handong Global University, and one researcher from Handong Global University.

 

In addition, Representative Taeyoung Kim and researchers of the Bridge joined as speakers and facilitators. Faculty human resource nurturing was also proceeded to host the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds of workshops based on appropriate technology led by E3Empower Africa and UAUT.

 

The first round had lectures and practice on the economic development and entrepreneurship of Korea, the spirit of social enterprise, the development of business items, the canvass business model, and strategies for market surveys.

The Green Appropriate Technology Research Cooperative Center of Handong promotes related projects for developing countries through the Global Engineering Project, Global Engagement & Mobilization, GEM, and the Engineering Design Academy for the marginalized, Creative design competition for 90% of the marginalized, the UNESCO UNITWIN program, and the NITEC project.
