On November 22, 2016, under the theme of a ‘Smart City’, leaders in the Industry-university Cooperation of Handong Global University hosted a seminar in Kalkata, India.
In this workshop there were a large number of guests. Forty local staff, including the CEO of Kalkata WBHIDCO and the President of the Chamber of Commerce was among the seventy participants. Staff from the Korean Embassy attended along with Youngsun Park from KOTRA, Jeon Byeong-kyu of Hyosung T&D, and other Korean businessmen.
In his welcome remarks, Kee-seok Kim said, “I hope that Pohang businesses enter the Indian market. Many Korean enterprises have lots of experience in establishing a smart city. They will participate in the Kalkata Smart City projects to contribute to the establishment of a smart city and a green city in India.”
CEO Divsah Shen of WBHIDCO said, “I have interest in learning from the establishment experiences of Korean enterprises that have smart city technology. I look forward to building technology exchanges and to increasing business cooperation.”
In this keynote speech CEO Jaewon Cheon of Xntree introduced the overall outline of smart cities, Hubiz ICT, Human Nature Motors, and Smart Convergence. In addition, Professor Chabong Choi presented ‘Old Urban Area Restoring Measures Applying the Internet to Things’. Professor Daejun Lee presented ‘A Sustainable City Design Method’.

LINC of HGU signed an agreement on academic and industry cooperation with Kalkata WBHIDCO on November 22.
The staff of Kalkata city was introduced to the current status of cities and the future prospects of smart cities and green city projects. The staff also shared their opinions and confirmed the ways of cooperation used in India and their ideas about a future smart city.
The Pohang Academic-industry Council was organized last October to enter the Indian market. The group joined in this smart city seminar. The seminar will be scheduled and hosted in Pohang with the same topic in the near future.
The positive result of the seminar was that LINC of HGU signed an agreement on academic and industry cooperation with Kalkata WBHIDCO.
