There were two days of auditions, October 20 to 21, 2016. The 2016 Academic Cooperation Expo ‘Audition to Develop Creative Talents’, led to Sun-young Lee receiving the grand prize. The prize for Lee was one million won (about $1,000 US) and a training program in the US.
The competition was hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the Korean Research Foundation, the Korean Industrial Technology Promotion Agency, and the Nurturing Project to lead as an academic-industry cooperation university. This year marks the 4th year HGU has received a prize. Student Lee proceeded to announce a creative countermeasure on the suggested problem of a local business.
Student Lee presented a measure to restore domestic sales of Pollack spawn. This area was sluggish due to decreased exports to Japan. As a countermeasure, student Lee suggested developing a new brand to bring a positive image to Pollack. He also developed a new recipe by using Pollack spawn that could be enjoyed by the young generation.

According to student Sun-young Lee, “I have interests in developing start-ups and SMEs. By taking this opportunity, I had time to consider the specific problems of the fishing enterprise. I will do my best to become a warm marketer with cold intellect and a warm heart by growing my competency.”
There were 57 students from 57 universities nationwide that participated in the competition. These students were given the opportunity to implement leadership in Industry/University Cooperation as school representatives. Ten participants passed the preliminary round competed with each other.
