-By developing various cooperative programs with foreign students and policemen, the Police Office will spread the Korean wave of public order.

On October 26, at Hyundong Hall, Handong Global University and Pohang Bukbu Police Office signed an agreement for mutual exchange. Eleven distinguished guests, including President Soon-Heung Chang of Handong Global University and Chief Sung-ho Lee of Pohang Bukbu Police Office, met together.

Both institutions will share information and opinions regarding police action related to foreign students, cooperation on foreign-student related activities, external promotion of crime preventative activities for foreign students, and safety management for various international events. 

In particular, both institutions mutually agreed to develop various cooperative programs. This will spread information about police action. It will become a Korean wave in this era where one million foreign students are in Korea. The programs will prepare for this multi-cultural era in the educational environment.

According to President Soon-Heung Chang, “We can establish various cooperative relationships by utilizing the excellent human talents of our school. These will increase safety, protection, and preventative measures for foreign students in conjunction with Pohang Bukbu Police Station. I hope this agreement will be an exemplary case of a mutual cooperative relationship between a university and a police office.”

The Chief of the Pohang Bukbu Police Office, Sungho Lee, said, “We would like to prevent the crimes that can be committed unintentionally by foreign students before they occur. We will do our best to increase the awareness that foreign students are protected from crime. Also, we will provide customized public peace services so that Korea is a safe country compared to other nations.”

After the ceremony, a 112 call poster was provided with activities. It was created in English for foreigners. It is posted at All Nations Hall.
