‘Handong Global University Guardians Program’ Supported by the Christian CEO Forum

‘Handong Global University Guardians Program’ is a system to support missionaries of Handong Global University, children of pastors, and enrolled students who are faced with financial difficulties. The Program is led by the members of the Christian CEO Forum. Through this system, the sponsors provide financial support and serve as guardians who will provide wisdom for overall academic study and life.

 

On October 22, sponsors and recipient students had a time to share their lives at All Nations Hall, HGU. In this event thirty-nine people participated including: the Dean of Academic Affairs, Shinik Kang, of Handong Global University; fifteen sponsors, including Chang Eungbuk, an Elder of Onnuri Church; and thirty-nine recipient students. After greetings by Shinik Kang, the event became a venue for the participants to share their lives.   

 

Student Issac Hwang received a scholarship for the first time shared thanks and his vision.

 

Student Issac Hwang said, “I would like to give thanks to all the people who gave me great support and help. I am so grateful to receive financial support. With this opportunity, I will go forward to my dream to be a Christian Alternative School Teacher.”

 

According to Wowi-Chan Ju, “With this scholarship, I can support my parents who are doing mission work abroad. I would like to be a resource to help poor people with an international mindset, like my parents.”

 

Encouragement from supporters followed after sharing thanks, other remarks and vision sharing of the recipient students. Jaemin Jung, said, “I am proud of the students of Handong who study with different values that the world. I hope many students can receive the benefits of this opportunity.”

 

 Elder Chang Eungbok delivered encouraging remarks to students.

 

Elder Chang Eungbok said, “I hope we can learn the value of consideration and sharing based on the motto of Handong, ‘Why not share what we have learned?’. I look forward to students becoming the talents who will be good influences in our society by establishing targets that will be unshakable.”

 

According to the Dean of Academic Affairs, Shinik Kang, of Handong Global University, “Support is provided for the pastors and missionaries who are spreading the gospel in local, rural and fishery villages and abroad. This program was made to lessen the financial burden of missionaries and pastors who hope to successfully pass the vision of service through their children.”

The program started last semester. Supporters are increasing constantly. This year 113 students received the benefit of this program. Every semester until graduation, 500,000 Korean won will be provided to each student.
