September 10^th to 24^th, 2016, Handong Global University operated the ‘Creativity Approach’ Program supporting the free semester system for middle school students. The program was developed by Handong Global University and the Pohang District Office of Education. The first Program was held in November. The goal is to improve creativity, logic, and community spirit in middle school students.

The program was held three times. The event included: group discussions, writing noble goals, using logic to solve problems, creative and cooperative games. The theme was heroines in fairy tales or comics such as Gulliver and the Magic Lamp Genie.  

According to the Dean of Admissions and Human Resource Development Office, Duphil Kang, “Handong Global University is developing exclusive programs to strengthen the creativity and independence of students. These were the original objectives of the free semester system for middle school students. We would like to provide practical support for students to find their dreams and talents. HGU is developing various programs that students can participate in directly as a change from cramming education.”

Handong Global University received the Class A status (the grand prize) at the Evaluation on University Structuring Reformation in 2015. This held HGU’s place as an education centered university. HGU was selected as a contributing university to the normalization of higher education for consecutive three years. HGU was also the leading university of ACE, the supportive project by the Ministry of Education to spur undergraduate education to a higher level. In addition, in the 2017 admission, all the freshmen were selected without majors or schools. When an interview date is different than the examination time, a double application is possible.
