Thirty individual donators from various fields attended the program. The participants were retired from the Korean South-east Power Co., the Korean Marin Environment Management Corporation, and the Korean Institute of Material Science. The venue was prepared to share educational donation activity guidelines through an information exchange between private educational donors. The participants learned the required information before starting educational donation activities.

The training program was started with greeting remarks by Dean Seungwook Park of the Educational Donation Center of Gyeongsang Province, HGU. The Head, Sukhee Jung, of the Center introduced the ‘Educational Donation Center of Gyeongsang Province, HGU’. Principal Weja Ryu of Eonyang Middle School presented on the topic of ‘Educational Donations at On-site Schools, Hopes and the Role of Private Educational Donors’’. Furthermore, ‘Guidelines on Private Educational Donation Activities and Details’ were introduced by Jiwon Choi, a Researcher from the Private Educational Donation Center. Experiences and examples of private educational donation activities were shared by Manager Hyunsuk Oh of Asia Airline. Finally, Daebum Jung, Assistant Administrator of Youth & Play Culture Research Institute, delivered a lecture titled ‘Understanding Youth and Opening their Hearts’.

According to the Head, Seungwook Park, “Educational donations provide genuine sharing to transfer dreams to the next generation. I really appreciate the participation of private educational donors so that children can develop their own dreams and hopes. I read an article in the Korean Newspaper for Teachers that says retirement is the place to start new relationships. I will do my best to support educational donations.”

The Head of the Center, Sukhee Jung, said, “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the participants of this previous training for giving your valuable time. This gathering is very meaningful since individuals who are engaged in various fields are gathered because of their willingness to provide ‘educational donations’.”

One individual educational donor who participated in this training said, “I was wondering in which way I could provide educational donations in the on-site field school. I learned the practical methods to donate so I am very happy.”

The Educational Donation Center of Gyeongsang Province, HGU, will provide support in various ways to provide more educational opportunities to the youth in Gyeongsang Province. This will utilize professional knowledge and experience of many donors.

※ Introduction of the Center

The Educational Donation Center of Gyeongsang Province, HGU was selected as the operating organization of the Educational Donation Regional Center in Gyeongsang Province. This was hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Korean Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity starting in July 2014. The Center is constantly developing educational donation organizations, institutions, and individuals in Gyeongsang Province. The Center also supports customized educational donation programs to benefit the youth of the Province.
