Since 2014, Handong Global University has been promoting joint educational courses to students and professors of the MBA program in cooperation with National Tribbuvan University located in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The Joint Educational Course with Nepal assists students in recognizing economic and social problems of the local people in Nepal. Then, students are challenged to resolve the problems by creating and operating sustainable enterprises. The course provides a comprehensive and practical educational course for the university students of Nepal.

Many professors work together in this joint course: professors of the School of Management & Economics, the School of Law, and the School of Counselling Psychology & Social Welfare of HGU and the professors of the School of Industrial Management of Postech. The courses provided are: ▲Social Innovation ▲ Social Innovation Business Case Research ▲Mind Map ▲ Draft Proposals, and ▲ Market Research Methods. The programs are provided for one week per semester at the Social Innovation Focused Camp with lectures (from 9am to 4 pm), small group activities (from 4:30~6 pm), and group presentations (from 7~9 pm).

Group Activities of the 2015 Summer Joint Educational Course
Local student interest is high on this joint educational program. In 2015, at a time when the program recruited twenty people, 430 people applied. The completion rate was recorded as 21.5:1. Furthermore, practical achievements were seen, given the fact that two newly established enterprises by the MBA students of Tribbuvan University who received the joint courses, are operating now. This education program will continue to contribute to resolving social economic issues. In addition, new enterprises are expected to be established.
※ Terminology
UNITWIN; University Twining and Networking is a program initiated by UNESCO with the goal of minimizing the knowledge gap. This enhances the self-reliance competency of the developing countries by supporting developing country’s universities and research institutions through the network between the developed and developing country’s universities. In 2007, Handong Global University was designated as the UNITWIN host country in 2007 for the first time in Korea.
The UNITWIN project of Handong Global University has been implemented as part of the Official Development Assistance of the Ministry of Education. HGU was established as the hub center within the developing countries in the fields of capacity building, leader nurturing projects and regional development projects centered on core partner countries designated and classified by the World Bank. As of May, 2016, Handong Global University has been supporting sixty universities and institutions in 28 countries.
