On June 3, at the Educational Donation Center in Gyeongsang Province, HGU, had the ‘2016 Workshop on Educational Donations for Gyeongsang Province’ at Marin Bio Industry Support Center, at the Silla University in Busan.
100 participants included: staff of the Ministry of Education, Gyeongsangnamdo, Busan, Ulsan, the provincial Office of Education, and the Korean Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, KOFAC, as well as elementary, middle, and high school educators and educational donation teachers.
The theme was ‘Measures to Utilize School Educational Donations and to Share Excellent Educational Donation Cases in Gyeongsang Province’. In addition, the Korean Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity delivered a presentation on the government policies regarding educational donations and major projects in 2016 to stimulate Educational Donation Revitalization.
The Ulsan Office of Education shared the current status of educational donations and activities in the Ulsan area. In addition, Unyang Middle School, an excellent school in educational donations, Korean Aerospace Industries, Ltd and Monsarang Corp. were selected as excellent organizations. They were presented as excellent educational donation cases in Gyeongsang Province.
According to the Senior Researcher, Woo-jung Baek from the Ministry of Education, “It is very inspiring to seek ways to utilize educational donations at the school level with teachers and managers of elementary, middle and high schools in Gyeongsang Province. We need to work together to nurture creative talents needed in society with innovative ideas.”
Professor Sookhee Jung, the Head of the Center, mentioned, “I sincerely hope this workshop will serve as the venue to seek the development direction in Gyeongsang Province. Educational donations are very meaningful to provide various highly qualified educational opportunities to the youth of our Province. This will nurture creative future talents for the 21 century.”
The Educational Donation Center of Gyeongsang Province at Handong Global University was established in July 2014 at HGU. The Center has four goals; 1. Activation of educational donations, 2. Support for the free semester system, 3. Dissemination of educational donation programs, and 4. Creation of the educational donation culture at the regional level. This culture will be developed by starting new education donation participatory institutions and individual educational donors, customized programs, operating pilot schools via educational donations, and applying on-site programs to meet the needs.
