The menu of Korean food, where students click ‘honor code: Handong Manna 100’ and pay with food points or a student card to have a meal.
Handong Global University started ‘Handong Manna Project’ to encourage students not to skip their meal when they face financial difficulties starting on May 23. The project lasted until June 17. This effort supported students so they could focus on their studies by providing a simple meal.
With one hundred won, students can use the Korean menu for amounts up to 2,800 when they face financial difficulties with this practical support.
Students could click ‘Manna Menu’ on the Korean menu at the student cafeteria. They could have a meal right away with food points or the student’s check card. Once they put the meal coupon in the box, they could take their meal right away.
The project was initiated by one supporter who provided 1,250 meals. In addition, Shinsaegae Food, Alumni of Handong Global University, and the Student Union of Handong Global University also joined the initiative.
The first supporter of Handong Manna said, “I was sad when I heard that there were some students who could not have meals. I wanted to give a small help for them so they could have a healthy school life without financial concern over their meals.”
President Yoo-gang Choi mentioned, “Gathering one mind and heart for the members of the community is the spirit of Handong. I really appreciate all the people actively demonstrating the spirit of Handong. My message is to just stretch out your hands. There are helping hands near you to help, through this project.”
Charger Shin-keyun Kim, of the Foreign Affairs Team said, “Handong Manna was operated on the Honor Code. I hoped those who needed friends freely used this opportunity. Students respected each other and loved each other through a warm meal.”
Anyone could join the Handong Manna Project. The fund-raining amount was expected to be raised.
