“The grace of teachers is like the sky,” lyrics from the song to teachers nationwide every May 15. ‘Teachers’ Day’ is a celebration of the grace of teachers. The special day provides an opportunity for students to express their gratitude and to honor their teachers. On that day, students express their gratitude to teachers in creative ways.

HGU has been operating ‘team system’ consisting of thirty students from various majors assigned to one professor for mentoring, since 1995.

Students decorate the door of their guiding professor late at night the day before “Teachers’ Day” to commemorate and express their thanks to their guiding professor. However, when looking at the students, their faces are radiant with no trace of tiredness.

According to Jinju Moon who experienced the culture of “Teachers’ Day” after entering HGU, “I really enjoyed the time decorating the professor’s door with freshmen and friends. It was a very joyful experience commemorating “Teachers’ Day. “

On that day, other students delivered presents by singing a song to their professors. This shows the nice, warm hearts between professors and students. 

According to Changbum Choi, of the Creative Convergence Educational Center, “Teachers’ Day” always makes me tremble with humility. On that day, I have a chance to look at my life in front of students. I really appreciate the students who visited me to celebrate at night and I felt sorry I could not spend more time with them.”

※ Team System (Mentoring Professor System): One team consists of one professor and thirty team members from various majors. The professor takes care of each student as if they were their own children. The group shares life and love. Each team member lives in the same dormitory for one year and learns the sense of community respecting and embracing others and they are trained in leadership.
