Handong Global University was designated as the ‘Preventative Action Team for Youth Gambling’ for two consecutive years hosted by the Korea Center on Gambling Problems under the Prime Minister. The project is operated by the Addiction Rehabilitation Team of HGU.
Thirty ‘Preventative Action Team for Youth Gambling’ designated by the Korea Center on Gambling Problems implements various forms of preventative activities in schools by reflecting each school’s academic calendar and distinctive characteristics. Furthermore, the teams are joining preventative activities in local society by linking with regional centers on gambling problems.
The Addiction Rehabilitation Team of HGU received an “A” grade last year. This is HGU’s second consecutive designation. The team is providing campaigns, preventative education, research activities, and hosting regional campaigns by working with the Daegu Center on Gambling Problems. These achievements were recognized last year and in the evaluation competition on youth gambling problems, HGU received the grand prize in the regional sector.
The Addiction Rehabilitation Team (ART) of HGU was also selected for promoting the ‘Leader’s Club on Moderation in Drink for Youth’ hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korean Public Health Association for the second time.
ART is the official society established in 2014. It falls under the School of Counselling Physiology & Social Welfare. The team is actively promoting research and additional preventative activities under the leadership of Professor Sungman Shin.
