By commemorating ‘36th Day of People with Disabilities, Handong Global University hosted ‘A Recognition Improvement Campaign for People with Disabilities’ called I. FEEL. U in order to encourage understanding and interest in people with disabilities while also creating a supportive atmosphere.

The event was held from April 25 to 27 at HGU, hosted by the School of Counseling Psychology and Social Welfare and supported by the Student Union and the Student Supportive Team.

Various programs or experiences to understand the life of people with disabilities such as ‘Becoming U’ were provided. People directly experienced the life of the disabled for one hour by riding in a wheelchair, using a cane and an eye patch, as well as various other activities.

A video clip was provided to enhance recognition of the disabled and to introduce human rights for the disabled. The viewing was held at the Student Union Hall.

In addition, at the video image showroom, two other videos were provided, ‘Thank you Daddy’ and ‘See Inside.’

The host organization is scheduled to provide a ‘Report on amenities and school life improvements for the disabled’ when people find any places or things requiring repairs or improvements. Through pictures or articles, the organization will send the report to the school.

According to Hana Park, the organizer of this event, “The event was hosted to provide an opportunity to improve the recognition of the disabled. I hope this event will help create a school culture to live in harmony with the disabled.”
