On April 12, 2016, the Foundation for Nurturing Global Creative and Innovative Talents based on ICT hosted a Forum on the Global c-Lab Project at Oseok Hall.
The Foundation reported the last and this year’s achievements of c-Lab promoted as CK projects for local universities. C-Lab developed a Global Enterprenureship Monitor Course that received the grand prize by the Korean Minister of Education, Science, and Technology in 2013.
This course emerges from conventional learning methods focused on lectures and theories and provides solutions favorable to resolving global issues by students themselves with professors, on-site experts, and industrial experts. The process goes like this. During vacations, students try to resolve problems by applying on-site solutions and reflecting those outcomes in the next projects. The Foundation has been operating fifteen projects such as the Mobile e-learning Library Model Development, ICT-based Autism Recognition Program in eleven countries including Mongolia, Nepal, China and Germany.
The briefing session was started with welcoming remarks by the Dean, Jinwon Ahn. Five teams delivered presentations of their projects in front of distinguished guests inclduding Professor Suyoung Chang, from the Industrial and Management Engineering Department of Postech; Professor Sungwhan Kim, from the School of Management of Gyeongbuk University; and Professor Yeonho Jung, from the School of International Commerce at Keimyung University. The five teams presented all the steps in the process of preparing their projects, the achievements they made and their future plans. The themes were: ‘North Korean Emigrant Support Policy Direction after Unification through Analysis of the Germany Syrian Refugee Emigrant Policy’, ‘Seeking Web Templates and Content Business Opportunities for Mongolian IT Enterprises’, ‘Cosmetic Marketing and Branding of Monenzymes’, ‘Social Enterprises Creating Senior Jobs in Indonesia’ and ‘Planning Travel Programs to Increase the Self-reliance of Vietnam University Students’.
Professor Yeonho Jung, from the School of International Commerce, of Keimyung University evaluated the presentations by saying, “Students in various fields are grouped into one team in order to resolve social problems in certain countries from a project base for advanced learning, data collecting, testing, on-site field experiences and drafting results. This is a customized method to nurture creative and innovative talents that fit this era.”
Professor Suyoung Chang of Postech has been contributing his tireless efforts to guide students by joining the c-Lab courses of HGU. Starting from the second semester of 2014, three hours per week, he collaborated with professors and students of HGU. He suggested various improvements to the presenters.
The Foundation for Internalization of HGU was selected as a CK project host by the Ministry of Education in July 2014. This work has nurtured global talents who will take the lead in creative innovation by utilizing ICT with the participation of the School of Management and Economics, the School of International Studies, Language and Literature, the School of Spatial Environment System Engineering, and the Graduate School of International Development Cooperation.
The Foundation has been promoting various international education programs including the operation of learning-based projects and on-site centered projects. Students visited global enterprises to gain experience, as well as to conduct research on international organizations. Students also conducted regional research to recognize on-site problems and develop countermeasures by working in teams with students from various majors.
