On March 31, 2016, Handong Global University signed a Joint Cooperation Agreement to Promote Youth Employment with the Province of Gyeongsangbukdo and three regional universities at Donguk University  at the Gyeongju Campus.

On March 31, 2016, Handong Global University signed a Joint Cooperation Agreement to Promote Youth Employment with the Province of Gyeongsangbukdo, three regional universities (Daegu University, Donguk University at the Gyeongju Campus, and Gumi University) that operates Creative Job Centers in the Universities and Gyeongsangbuk Creative Economic Innovation Center.

Governor Kim Kwan-yong, the Presidents of Daegu University, Donguk University, and Gumi University, HGU’s President Soon-heung Chang, and leaders of the Centers attended this ceremony.

Youth Employment with the Ministry of Employment and Labor of the Province of Gyeongsangbukdo is a youth employment supportive model. This provides employment and start-ups not only for enrolled students and graduate students but also for other university school students and youth in the local area.

Handong Global University will operate the project for five years starting this March. The total funds are 1.9 billion won and 0.3 billion won will be distributed each year.

The HGU Creative Job Center will serve as a venue to foster employment and start-ups in Pohang and Gyeongbuk’s Eastern region. The center will promote various kinds of programs such as: establishing the governance to maximize youth employment in Pohang, Youngduk, and Uljin; joint-work projects with Pohang Creative Economic Innovation Center; hosting employment and start-up exhibitions in conjunction with Pohang city, Pohang Creative Innovation Center, and POSCO; employment competency strengthening for humanities students through mandatory convergence majors and the free semester option; on-site capacity building programs; specialized programs for female students; and practical capacity building programs to revitalize employment abroad.

President Soon-heung Chang mentioned, "HGU will take the lead in the future. We will create a better future by creating new jobs and by fostering start-ups with the members of Handong."
