Foundation of LINC hosted ‘Expo on Academic-Industry Cooperation’ from Feb. 16 to 18, 2016, at Philos Hotel, Pohang. This event is hosting under the slogan of ‘Dreaming Creative City, New Challenge.’ In addition, various forums on regional social development method, vision declaration ceremony, future forum of Hyungsan River, presentation on LINC, idea completion on student start-ups.
The Expo starts with SMART FARM Forum. Domestic agricultural market is stagnated and due to the openness of FTA, new agricultural technology and strengthening agricultural competitiveness are heightened. This forum is co-hosted by Pohang-city Agricultural Research and Extension Services and Foundation of LINC and KT supports. Fifty participants including protected facilities and agricultural technology related workers in Pohang were invited and luncheon and forum were provided. Under the three topics such as ‘Smart farm Solution and Applied Cases’, ‘Experiences on Smart-farm’, and ‘Workplan and Promotion Strategies on Smart farm’, presentations were delivered by the experts. Debating with Professor Hyunggi Doh, Vice Head of Foundation of LINC, and two experts also was made.
On the second day, ‘Future Forum on Hyungsan River’ and ‘Workshop on Downtown Regeneration’ were hosted. Under the theme of ‘Current Status of Fin-Tech and Financial Innovation Strategies in Pohang, this forum was hosted and served as a venue to share opinion to establish strategies and revitalization of Fintech industry. Future Forum on Hyungsan River and Foundation of LINC, HGU co-hosted this forum and Pohang city, Pohang Headquarters of Bank of Korea, and Fintech Association were supported this event. This forum was hosted with more than 100 participants including financial experts, official workers of Pohang, congressman of Pohang, IT related experts were joined. Starting with remarks by President Soon-heung Chang, topic presentation and discussion were made.
On the third day, achievements of the Foundation of LINC during the first year were evaluated and evaluation meeting and exhibition were prepared. During the evaluation meeting, four internal and external examiners, and evaluation on capstone design, innovation project, and innovation band project were presented. The exhibition shows achievements of capstone design, IoT/ICT products, and achievements of joint academic-industry cooperation projects. The displays are consisting of achievements of the program and family business products. This was prepared by the revitalization of nurturing start-ups talents and revitalization of creative economy.
The Expo was concluded with ‘Academy-Industry Vision Declaration Ceremony’. Starting with remarks by the President Soon-heung Chang, special lecture by the Mayer of Pohangcity, Chilgu Lee, and other congratulatory remarks by distinguished guests, presentations and special lectures were delivered.
Head of the Foundation of LINC said, “Regional industry’s difficulties are intensified due to long term downturn and insecurity of interest rates, and stagnation of steel industry. We would like create an opportunity to promote sustainable development of cities by revitalizing new growth through cooperation in academy, industry, and government.”
