December 17, 2015, The Foundation for Global Creative & Innovative Human Resource Nurturing based on ICT hosted ‘A Workshop on Innovative University Education to Take the Lead in the Future’ at Pine Beach Hotel.
In this workshop, twenty people participated including: the President of HGU; the Dean of the Graduate School, Sungjun Kang; as well as professors and the staff of the Foundation for Globalization. The participants heard the special lecture by the former Minister of Education and shared opinions on university education innovations and specialized projects. In addition, they had a time to discuss development methods for c-Lab which is the university oriented project.
The c-Lab Project is a collective intelligence educational program centered around students. C-Lab utilizes collective intelligence. It consists of on-site experts, professors, and students working together as one team.
The former Minister of Education, Jaechoon Kim mentioned, “Niche Marketing is vital. A trademark for each university needs to be created. Student centered reasoning and systems tailored to the students’ requests in this era need to be established.”
The Vice Dean of the Foundation for Globalization at HGU also delivered a presentation on the achievements of the ‘Cooperative Learning Program.’ He gave start-up examples from more advanced developing countries.
The Dean of the Foundation for Globalization said, “In this workshop, as a President, Dean, and faculty member, we have a venue to consider the educational system and the university’s calling.”
The Foundation was selected for specialized projects as a national support university in the Globalization Sector of the Local University Specialization Project. The Foundation has been nurturing global human resources that will take the lead in globalization and creative innovation by utilizing ICT with the School of Management and Economics, the School of International Studies, the School of Spatial Environment System Engineering, and the Graduate School of International Development Cooperation.
The Foundation operates various kinds of practice-based learning programs that develop countermeasures with on-site problem recognition by teams from different majors working together.
※ Terminology
Niche Marketing: Concentrating all marketing efforts on a small but specific and well defined segment of the population. Niches do not 'exist' but are 'created' by identifying needs, wants, and requirements that are being addressed poorly or not at all by other firms. Then, companies develop and deliver goods or services to satisfy them. As a strategy, niche marketing is aimed at being a big fish in a small pond instead of being a small fish in a big pond.
