On October 29, Global Encounter- Asia Week was successfully hosted.
At this event, experts and diplomats of Asian developing countries were invited. General information including economic and industrial statistics were introduced. In addition, programs from four continents waere reported and discussed. A special lecture was delivered by the former Minister, Do-yeop Kwon. In particular, a Memorandum of Understanding on Exchange to Nurture Global Talents between HGU and Hannam University was established.
This event was hosted by ‘the Foundation to Nurture Global Creative Human Resources based on ICT,’ the ‘Foundation of UNESCO UNITWIN’, the Foundation of International Affairs of HGU, and the ‘Foundation to Nurture Creative Talents in Global Business of Hannam University.’
Outside of the event venue, promotion booths, and picture exhibitions displayed the past activities. Presentations and discussion were made by seven professors and 45 students including the Head of the Foundation of Globalization of Hannam University.
The event began at one o’clock in the afternoon. Professor Ki-sun Yoo, from the School of Management and Economics delivered a presentation on joint educational program with Mongolia and Nepal, as well as the development and dissemination of projects on green appropriate technology. Also, Professor Dae-yeon Cho introduced the joint educational program with Cambodia University.
In his congratulatory remarks, President Soon Heung Chang said, “This event strengthens the basic fundamentals of the Foundations and the vision of Handong will be discovered. I hope that we can constantly develop our cooperation with Hannam University. “
Do-yeop Kwon, the Former Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation, delivered a special lecture titled the ‘Story of Korean Enterprises that Entered the Foreign Construction Market’. The Minister said, “Through construction, production and life, the fundamentals will be established. Based on these fundamentals, culture, civilization, imagination and industry will be created. Korean enterprises served as one of the driving forces of Korean economic development. With partner countries’ production employment increased and secured foreign revenue through construction in foreign countries. I hope that youth will grow as talents who are secured with creative competency that will enhance national prestige in the future as the world continues to globalize.”
Professor Kenneth Chin, of Handong International Law School shared the performance and outcomes of the ‘Law and Development’ program of HILS. The program was sponsored by UNESCO UNTWIN in Cambodia and Laos. A new program that will be started in Vietnam was also introduced.
After the special lecture, programs such as the Global i-Convergence Project and Global Training and Research were presented by the Foundation of International Affairs of HGU. The Global i-Convergence project is a new conceptional form of lecture that combines creativity and convergence. Professors in various majors, industrial experts, local experts, and students in various majors join together and resolve global issues as one team.
In this event, Jongmin Woo who is promoting a project in Southeast Asia, delivered a presentation. Sujung Lee from Hannam University also delivered a presentation on examples of project participation and had a discussion on the efficiency of projects from the perspective of recipient. The Head of the Foundation of International Affairs of Hannam University, Jongwoon Kim, delivered a presentation and introduced a project to nurture global creative human talents based on ITC.
During this event, the Foundation of International Affairs of both HGU and Hannam University signed an agreement for mutual cooperation including co-hosting international conferences, and exchanging special programs in order to nurture global human talents. Both Foundations will share their strengths and enhance the synergy effect to boost the global competency of students.
The Head of the Foundation of International Affairs of Hannam University, Jongwoon Kim, said, "This event served as an opportunity to lay a foundation to nurture global human resources by enhancing the globalized mindset for the two schools."
The Head of the Foundation of International Affairs of HGU, Jinwon Ahn, mentioned, "It is meaningful to promote mutual entrance into Asian regions though bilateral cooperation. When we build our partnerships in developing countries by working together, this will lay firm ground preparing for the era of unification."
Global Encounter 2016 will be hosted at Hannam University next spring.
