HGU's Foundation for CK Projects Attended a Forum for CK Projects

On November 3, the Foundation Nurturing Global Creative and Innovative Talents based on ICT and the Foundation Nurturing Converged Talents in Sustainable Energy and the Environment in Gyungbyk and the East Sea, participated in the national forum for CK projects.

The event was hosted by the CK Council and organized by Jeonbuk National University. 341 Foundations for CK projects from 107 universities, and guests joined the event. This was a venue to introduce achievements of the projects and share success stories. 

The Foundation:
▲ shared success stories based on topics of CK projects,
▲ operated a promotion booth
▲ displayed posters showing CK projects.
 
By doing so, various experiences and data were shared and introduced. Students also participated in this event.

The Foundation for International Affairs had a promotion booth and introduced strategic projects for nurturing global human resources. The Foundation introduced the practice-based learning program. This strategy nurtures problem-solving competency by recognizing problems happening on-site. Successful examples were provided for the practice program abroad: visits to the international financial market, visits to international organizations and visits to global enterprises.

The Foundation for Regional Strategies also introduced:
▲technology converged education(energy system converged track, eco-space converged track)    ▲converged education in technology and law (the program for intellectual property rights)
▲results of joint research with regional enterprises in the energy and environment sector        
▲ achievements from the Capstone Competition
▲successful stories from internships, and
▲cases of joint research and circles.
 
The Foundation for Regional Strategies presentation was given by Prof. Jaehyo Kim. His title was 'Structural Strategies for the Gyungbuk East Sea Energy and Environment Belt and Regional Cooperation.' According to Prof. Kim, in order to establish an organic cooperative system between a university and a regional area it is essential to resolve regional issues in the fields of energy and the environment. Prof. Kim also introduced activities and achievements of the Foundation.

Prof. Kim said, "It is my great pleasure to introduce our tireless from the last two years. The Energy and Environment Cluster Project needed cooperation from the region, academics, industry, and citizens. We will continue to do our best to further strengthen our competency, create positive results, and develop opportunities."

From the Office of International Affairs, Prof. Jinwon An said, "I sincerely hope that this Forum will become a model for all the universities of Korea to take the lead in globalization. Then Korea will help achieve the UN's SDGs targeted to be achieved by 2030."

The Foundation Nurturing Global Creative and Innovative Talents based on ICT and the Foundation Nurturing Converged Talents in Sustainable Energy and the Environment in Gyungbyk and the East Sea of HGU were designated as CK projects by the Ministry of Education and National Research Foundation of Korea. Their funding will provide 2.6 billion won per year for five years.

The Foundation for Regional Strategies will nurture converged talents in energy and the environment. This will maximize the synergy in technology development with educational competency of HGU. It will also expand the research competency of Pohang University of Science and Technology.

In addition, the Foundation for International Affairs will nurture creative talents who have accumulated globalization competency and ICT competency based on HGU's curriculum to nurture global talents.
