HGU Held a Diplomatic Mission Event Celebrating the Designation of the UN Library

On November 12, 2015 HGU invited members of the diplomatic corps within Korea. The event was hosted to celebrate HGU’s designation as a UN library and to introduce HGU and Pohang city.
The distinguished participants were Ambassadors from twelve countries: the Czech Republic, Argentina, Belarus, Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Gabon, and others.
As a global university, HGU actively introduced various actives of the school to the Ambassadors. Various exchange activities such as attracting excellent international students, and the UNESCO UNITWIN program were part of collaborative cooperation of this diplomatic mission.
In this event, the mayor of Pohang, Kangduk Lee, participated and introduced the creative city, Pohang. He explained Pohang was the birthplace of the Saemaul Movement, and invited the participants to the Pohang Light Festival. The diplomatic mission experienced a Pohang cruise, one of the major tourism activities of Pohang. They also toured POSCO, one of the representative enterprises of Pohang.
The event was sponsored by Pohang city, the Foundation Nurturing Global Creative and Innovative Talents based on ICT and the Foundation of UNESCO UNITWIN.
The library of Handong has designated as UN donation library from United Nations Publication Board.
