Determining the Future is Easy with a Mentor

November 21, 2015, HGU hosted the first Handong Mentor Group and Mentoring Academy for Students’ Career Paths and Jobs.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Handong Mentor Group, graduates of the eight schools and fifty-five graduates were designated as mentors in twenty-three fields. HGU will increase the number of mentors and designated major enterprises to include every field in the near future.

From 1:30 until 3 pm on the third and fourth floors, the Mentoring Academy was held. The enrolled students had a time to meet mentors in the fields of planning, human resources, sales and management, and had a time to talk about their career interests.

In his remarks, President Chang said, “It is a pleasure to have the graduate students of HGU support and take care of the enrolled students by organizing a mentoring group like this. It is a long distance for many to come to HGU. Such activities show your dedication to the students. Through this servant attitude and dedication, I firmly believe that the next generation will grow.”

Student Dream Kim said, “I heard real stories from my seniors and I resolved many of my questions regarding the projects. It was very meaningful to talk about their interests and to hear their career related stories.”

Handong University has been providing offline mentoring once a semester by a systemic mentoring group. Now, HGU will establish an online mentoring system by introducing jobs with question and answer forums for mentors and mentees using HISNet.

In addition, the Student Career Development Team has been promoting the creation of more than two mentor and job-seeking circles starting next semester. Mentors can provide consultations on-off line at the same time. 26 guiding professors are designated for mentoring in order to provide systemized counselling.
