-The “Giving You Love” Concert: In Korean this means ‘Donate love.’ In English, it means ‘Giving you love’.
On November 28, 2015, The ‘Giving You Love’ concert was hosted by HGU and Pohang city. It was organized by the Student Union of HGU and Professor Shinik Kang’s Team.
The concert was a talent donation project that offered a free performance to local citizens. The goal was to provide a joyful cultural experience to local people who lacked the economics and psychological drive to find such an experience.
In particular, the concert served as a venue to share love and hope with local citizens, children and to communicate God’s love to the local society.
The concert consisted of two parts. The first part was “To find the beauty of Korea.” The second part was “Koreans woven into the world.” The performances were prepared by the student circles and the child center to celebrate the event.
The first session had traditional Korean dances, Taekwondo performances, and an English musical “Snow White.” The second session included performances by the orchestra, dance groups, acappella groups, a magic show, hip hop dancing, and the male choir.
In attendance were: the Mayor of Pohang, Kangduk Lee; the Vice President of Administration, Shinik Kang; the President of Pohang City Children’s Center, Kyungsuk Kim; and the Chairman of Gyungbuk Province of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy, Jungki Oh.
The concert is part of the global life of HGU. All the planning and execution of the event was prepared by students. The team members consisted of students from various fields. The students were supportive of one another’s efforts.
The global life project aims to develop community leadership and communication with local society by supporting creative projects in the team units. In this process, students grow into self-directed human resources with logical thinking and stronger communication skills. The proper values that are taught at HGU are seen in the growing organizational competency of the students.
