‘Handong around the Globe 2015’-Asian Week

Handong Global University has been hosting Handong around the Globe 2015 to focus on the four continents: Africa, Asia, America, and Europe.

The forum aimed to raise the global awareness and interest of Handong faculty, staff, and students. Also, the desire was to strengthen mutual exchanges between the continents of Africa, Asia, America, and Europe. The Forum was co-hosted by ‘the Foundation to Nurture Global Creative Human Resources based on ICT’, the ‘Foundation of UNESCO UNITWIN’, and the Office of International Affairs at HGU. During the forum, there were special lectures by experts,d presentations and discussions on numerous globalization projects run by Handong Global University on each four continent.

In particular, the forum is co-hosted by the ‘Foundation of Nurturing Global Business Creative Human Resources’ of Hannam University. During the week focused on Asia, there were special lectures by the former Minister of Land, Transportation, and Maritime Affairs, Mr. Do-yeop Kown and various programs such as sharing activities, display booths, and other events for the students of HGU and HILS in Asian countries entitled, “Global Encounters.”

Six professors including the Head of the Foundation of Globalization from Hannam University, Professor Jong-un Kim and 45 students visited HGU. During the event, both HGU and Hannam University signed a Memorandum of Understanding for further enhancing mutual exchange between Hannam-Handong Global University. In addition, Professor Jong-woon Kim and student Su-jung Lee made a presentation on “Establishing a System to Nurture the Global Business Elite” and “Opportunities and Growth through the CK-I project” respectively.

The Foundation of UNESCO UNITWIN introduced Joint Education Courses between Mongolia and Nepal University, Development and dissemination projects on green appropriate technology, accumulation and publication projects on Open Educational Resources and Open Courseware (OCW) for the Asian Continent.

The Office of International Affairs at HGU presented the Global i-Convergence Project and the Global Training and Research program. The Global i-Convergence Project is a creative and converged learning course developed to resolve global project issues consisting a team from various fields of majors, professors, industrial experts, and local experts. In this event, South East Asia Team will make a presentation.

President Soon-heung Chang stressed, “We want to further develop our mutual exchange and cooperation with Hannam University. We hope that we can lay a firm foundation by promoting various projects of the Office of International Affairs at HGU and UNESCO UNITWIN.
