The Department of Language Education is committed to developing and delivering a high-quality, rigorous academic English language program to Korean and International students that places it as one of the premiere language learning institutions in South Korea. The DLE collaborative approach to course design and delivery provides an environment in which DLE faculty grow as teachers and members of the Handong community. The strong Christian worldview of the university allows a devoted commitment to following Christ and his teachings expressed through the teaching role.

The DLE curriculum has four levels with the top three of these required for graduation purposes. (3 credits of each)
- English Foundation (EF)
- English Communication (EC)
- English Reading and Compositions (ERC)
- English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
